The Mens Shoppe and Her Boutique are a family owned and operated business. The owners, John and Donna Pammer, believe in offering great service and real value in a friendly, comfortable setting.
The Pammers opened their clothing store in October 2011. Donna explains that opening a store has always been on her and John’s radar: “it’s something that we have always wanted to do”.
John and Donna were able to turn their passion for fashion into a business:
“Years earlier, Donna and I said ‘you know wouldn’t it be great to have a clothing or even a bridal business’. So we had ourselves kind of expressed that that would be something that we would like to do in the future. It was one of those things we talked about, kind of like our dream and sure enough, it did come to fruition.”
How did they come to the decision of opening a store?
“I was looking at business opportunities and Donna was actually at a luncheon and the former mayor was there at the time and he said to her ‘we really need a men’s wear shop in town’, and that was the spark that caused me to sort of investigate. After that conversation, Donna and I looked into it and spoke to some store owners. We picked their brains to gain some insight and there seemed to be an opportunity there. That’s how it all started.”
When speaking with John and Donna about their business, they touched on the evolutionary aspect of the store through the years: “It’s changed a lot. It started as a men’s wear store and a couple years later we brought the ladies and a few years later we brought in the shoes as well. So we find it’s constantly evolving. Even now we’re going to be doing an online store in the next little while and I’m going to be doing wholesale soon”.
The Mens Shoppe and Her Boutique have evolved into more than just a clothing store: “We offer multi-services, we are not just a clothing store. We are not high end or low end, we select brands that are known for their quality, but also for their value in terms of price. We do everything from suits to jeans, from casual women’s wear to shoes for men and women. We also offer some services; we partner with Collins formal wear from London, for tuxedo rentals for men, offer alterations, and we are a dry cleaning depot for Strathroy.”
What would the Pammers like to achieve with their business?
The Mens Shoppe and Her boutique aim to offer a personalized service with real value. Customers from Strathroy and beyond continue to choose the Mens Shoppe and Her Boutique for their clothing needs.
Although I only spent a short time speaking with John and Donna, it became clear rather quickly, how happy they are to assist men and women in developing their own personal sense of style. Once you walk into the shop you are greeted by the Pammers and their lovely dog, and I can confidently say you will leave happier than you came in!
So what’s in store for this The Mens Shoppe and Her Boutique?
“I think the next big step is to venture into online sales. We’re always sort of evaluating what customers are looking for and adapting to that in terms of our buys. So looking at what are the trends in fashion and what our customers want. That’s a constant process.”
John and Donna are always looking for new ways to improve their business and their focus is to provide the best possible service to their customers. The Mens Shoppe and Her Boutique will soon be venturing into online sales and wholesale merchandise.
